Data-driven: Customer Insights and Market Data

Customers are the most important part of product management and it all begins by understanding them better to serve them the right solution. When you go to a restaurant, the waiter would ask your choice of food because they are serving you. They present options, ask you clarifying questions(a good restaurant would ask you) such as spiciness, any additional snacks needed etc., suggests something if you are not sure about what to eat, and asks if everything is good. Once you are served th food, you go happy as you got to eat what you were looking for. But what would happen if waiters serve you what they think is best for you. You want to eat burger, but they give you pizza, or vice versa. Not good right?

Similarly, you would try to understand customers better by asking right questions to ultimately give them what is best for them. How good your solutions is on you(just like how good food is dependent on chef), but as a product manager you would need to find the right problem(like finding the right food to serve). 

To get to customer insights, you would need to collect the right data, store it and transform it for analysis.
